Comparing Estimates: Apples-to-Apples

Are you comparing “apples-to-apples” when looking at these estimates? Don’t worry, Andrews is here to help. Whether you decide to move with us, or you choose our competitor, we want you to be fully informed when making your decision.

Step 1: Take a look at the lowest estimate

• Is this estimate missing anything? 
• Does it include all the services you discussed with the mover?
• Is the weight suspiciously lower than the others?
• Are the hours of service/manpower noticeably lower than the others? (Unless they employ a crew of "Incredible Hulk’s", all movers can move the same volume in the same amount of time.)
• Does the estimate include furniture disassembly and reassembly? 

Step 2: Take a look at the highest estimate

• Did they include service upgrades the others have not? 
• Do they have more manpower/trucks/hours than the others? If so, what did the estimator see that the others didn’t?

Step 3: Take a look at the estimate in the middle

• Will this mover provide a low-stress move with a minimal amount of work on your part? 
• Is there a service offered by the higher estimate you’d like included in this estimate? 
• Does the manpower/hours/trucks seem to be in-line with the others?

Step 4: Look at the fine print

• Compare the costs and coverage of Full Value Protection. Not all coverage is the same. Do all the estimates include the cost of FVP?
• Are all the movers bonded, licensed, insured, professionally trained, drug-screened and in-uniform? These factors are important when selecting a mover. The deciding factors should be a mover’s ability to safely complete the job on time, and not solely on the price.

Step 5: Make a decision

• Eliminate any mover who is unlicensed (go to www.puco.ohio.gov to check).
• Eliminate any estimates that are suspiciously low or high.
• Eliminate any mover requiring a down payment. 
• Select a mover who can work with your dates.
• Is a fully vaccinated crew important to you?  Does this mover provide vaccinated crews?
• Select a mover with a reputation for quality service and low property claims.
• Choose a mover with several recent positive online reviews.
• Select a mover whose estimator was knowledgeable and made you feel the most comfortable. The service crew will likely make you feel the same way.
